Marianna Ignataki

Marianna Ignataki was born in Thessaloniki and studied Architecture at the Technische Universität in Vienna before completing Visual Arts studies at the École des Beaux-Arts in Saint-Étienne. She has lived and worked in Vienna, Saint-Étienne and Beijing and is now based between Berlin and Athens. Ignataki’s work centres on meticulously crafted drawings, sculptures and installations in which female figures, hair and ornamental motifs weave together narratives of desire, identity, vulnerability and power. Her imagery often oscillates between seduction and unease, combining refined technique with a charged psychological atmosphere. She has presented fourteen solo exhibitions to date in Greece, Germany and France, including major projects at CAN Christina Androulidaki gallery in Athens, MOMus – Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki, Reiter galleries in Leipzig and Bark Berlin. She has also participated in numerous group shows and museum exhibitions across Europe, China and the USA. Ignataki is represented by CAN Christina Androulidaki (Athens) and collaborates with Reiter galleries.
