Joachim Elzmann

Joachim Elzmann (b. 1953, Freiburg im Breisgau) is a German painter and sculptor whose work spans collages, paintings, objects and glass sculptures. He studied at the art academies in Karlsruhe and Braunschweig, developing a distinctive visual language that often plays with balance, volume and the tension between abstraction and figuration. Elzmann’s works frequently combine fragile materials and clear geometries with a poetic sense of instability, suggesting architectures and bodies that are on the verge of transformation. Since the early 1990s his work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Europe, including presentations at Beck & Eggeling in Düsseldorf, Galerie Miro in Prague and the Centre of Contemporary Art Znaki Czasu in Toruń. His works are represented in various public and private collections.
