Jean-Yves Klein (b. 1960, Montreal) is an artist who lives and works between Berlin and the Peloponnese, developing a practice grounded in European art traditions and transnational experience. He studied at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris and at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin, where he received the Elsa Neumann Scholarship (NaFöG) in 1987. Since 1978 his work has been presented in galleries, institutions and museums across Europe, the United States, South America and China, reflecting a sustained international exhibition activity over several decades. Klein’s practice encompasses painting and drawing with a focus on the human figure and the landscape, often exploring memory, displacement and the relation between North and South. His works appear regularly in solo and group exhibitions and form part of both private and public collections.
