The Public Library of Kalamata – Pinakothiki of Contemporary Greek Art presents at A49 Art Space the exhibition “Daphne Costopoulos: From Form to Substance.”
The exhibition traces Daphne Costopoulos’s artistic trajectory through 25 works that span every phase of her practice — from her early visual experiments to her mature compositions using “poor materials” such as paper, coffee, sand, gauze, and wood.
Organised in thematic sections that follow chronological and conceptual milestones in her career, the exhibition foregrounds her transition from the certainty of form to the expressive autonomy of substance. The curatorial research draws on primary sources from the daily and periodical press, illuminating the critical reception and dialogue surrounding her work.
Daphne Costopoulos was one of the most active figures of post-war art in Greece, with a consistent international presence and a continuous search for new modes of expression grounded in the power of matter, memory, and myth.
The exhibition is supported by the J. F. Costopoulos Foundation, which has also loaned works from its collection.
