John Isaacs

John Isaacs is a British artist whose work probes the emotional and psychological undercurrents of contemporary life through sculpture, installation and mixed media. Emerging in the context of the Young British Artists in the 1990s, he has since developed a distinctive visual language that oscillates between the grotesque and the fragile, often using the human body and everyday objects to question desire, mortality and the construction of truth. His work has been presented in solo exhibitions at institutions and galleries such as Travesía Cuatro in Mexico City and Madrid, Galerie Michael Haas in Berlin, Galleria Poggiali in Milan, Aeroplastics in Brussels and Artvera’s in Geneva. Isaacs has also participated in numerous international group shows, including exhibitions at Tate Britain and Tate Modern in London, the Centre Pompidou-Metz, the Venice Biennale collateral programme, the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, Palazzo Reale in Milan and major museums in Bremen, Essen, Ghent and Lisbon. His sculptures and installations form part of important private and public collections and continue to be shown in large thematic exhibitions that explore the body, belief and the anxieties of the present.
