Jenny Brosinski (b. in Celle) is a Berlin-based painter whose large-format works appear as abstract compositions that deliberately display traces of use and process. Expressive oil on unprimed canvas, sprayed lines, lettering, shoe prints and pasted-over elements foreground the materiality of painting while questioning its conventions and the status of the image. Her visual language oscillates between spontaneity and control, combining raw gestures with carefully considered interventions that open up ambiguous narratives. Since 2019 she has also created figurative bronze and stone sculptures, often playfully distorted animal figures that extend her painterly concerns into three dimensions. These works reveal the same subtle humour and lightness that run through her paintings and especially their titles, which function as an additional poetic layer.
