ΙΔΜΕΝ

Η έκθεση είναι μια συνεργασία με το Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο Πατρών. Ο σκοπός αυτής της συνεργασίας είναι η προσέγγιση μερικών από τα κύρια θέματα των αρχαιοτήτων στη μόνιμη συλλογή του Μουσείου και η συσχέτισή τους με το παρόν. Με άλλα λόγια, η πρόθεσή μας είναι να δημιουργήσουμε ένα διάλογο ανάμεσα στο παρελθόν και το παρόν. Επιπλέον, οι καλλιτέχνες θα μπορούσαν ενδεχομένως να εξετάσουν την έννοια των μουσείων και των τεχνουργημάτων τους ευρύτερα ως θεσμό. Η μόνιμη συλλογή μάς παρέχει ένα ευρύ φάσμα θεμάτων όπως: ζωή, εμπόριο, πρόνοια, γεωργία, περιβαλλοντικά ζητήματα, πόλεμος, αθλητισμός, θέατρο και δημόσια ζωή, ρωμαϊκή αρχιτεκτονική και αρχαίες τελετές. Έχουμε επιλέξει για κύριο θέμα της έκθεσης την έννοια του ΙΔΜΕΝ (= γνωρίζουμε) για να αποδώσουμε την έννοια της λειτουργίας της τέχνης όπως περιγράφεται στη Θεογονία του Ησίοδου (απόσπασμα 25-30). Ήταν, αρχικά, η ιδέα του Σπύρου Φέγγου στον οποίον αποδίδουμε φόρο τιμής χρησιμοποιώντας το IΔΜΕΝ τόσο για τον τίτλο όσο και για το θέμα της έκθεσης. The exhibition is a collaborative project with the Archaeological Museum of Patras. The purpose of this joint project is to find ways of approaching some of the major themes of antiquity in the Museum’s permanent collection and to relate them to the present. In other words, our intention is to create a thought-provoking dialogue between the past and the present. In addition, the artists could possibly examine the concept of museums and their artefacts, as an institution in the broader context. The permanent collection provides us with a large spectrum of themes: Life, emporium, sea-trade market, welfare, agriculture, environmental issues, war, athletics, theatre and public life, roman architecture and ancient ceremonies or even the concept of museums and their artefacts. We selected the concept of IDMEN (= we know) to illustrate the function of art as described in the Theogonia of Isiodos (fragment 25-30) (Hesiod’s Theogeny). It was originally the idea of Spyros Fengos and we pay tribute to him by using IΔΜΕΝ for both the title and the concept of the exhibition.
